Kinmundy Masonic Lodge #398 brought the “Bikes for Books” program to the South Central Elementary School! The Kindergarten and 1st Grade students read over 800 books! Each day they did a good job reading, their name was entered in a drawing for a new bike! At the end of the week, we drew out one winner from Kindergarten and 1st grade. The Kindergarten winner was Clayson Bushue! The 1st Grade winner was Collins Juds! Clayton Keen and Tim Yates, from theKinmundy Masonic Lodge #398, presented the winners with a certificate, new bike and helmet! All the students were excited to participate in this program! We are very grateful to the
Kinmundy Masonic Lodge #398 for bringing this program to our school!










We are collecting soda tab from now through Friday, May 10th for the Shriners! Please send your soda tabs to school!

NTC Softball Tournament games today have been postponed until tomorrow April 30th. Game times and location will be the same as today.

Mrs. Schukar and the 4th and 5th grade band students did a wonderful job at their Spring Concert!!! We had a great turn out to support our young band students!

Reminder: SCMS Academic and Athletic awards ceremony will take place Wednesday, May 1st @ 6pm in the SCMS gymnasium!!

Mrs. O'Leary's 5th grade reading classes presented their biography projects this week! They had to pick a famous person, do research on them, and present it to the class!





Come out and support the 4th and 5th grade band students at their "Spring Concert" on Friday, April 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the South Central Elementary Gym! Hope to see you there!

5th grade had a Career Day. Students learned about making a budget and different types of careers. Several dressed up like their future dream jobs.

Fayette County residents:
Earlier this morning at approximately 5:00 am deputies with Fayette County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on I-57 northbound near Farina, IL. While conducting a roadside interview with the driver, the passenger switched into the driver's seat and fled the traffic stop in the vehicle, a 2024 Infiniti SUV. The vehicle was located just north of a cemetery near 185 and 750 Ave. The passenger, now driver fled on foot in an unknown direction. A search of the area was conducted and the subject is still presumed to be in the area.
The male subject is identified as Russel Rodriques Darnell, approximately 45 years old. Darnell is a black or African male with short dreadlocks, is approximately 5'07 and was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans when last seen. If subject is located in the area do not approach and contact Fayette County Sheriff's Office or area law enforcement immediately.
