South Central School District School Board February Board Actions
The Board approved the minutes, bills, and treasurer’s report.
The Board was presented with a check from the Kinmundy Masonic Lodge working in conjunction with the Grand Masonic Lodge of Illinois. The check was in the amount of $5,000 to provide easter hams for all district families. The Board and administration were very thankful for this gift.
The Board had a brief discussion with the FFA Alumni group about a possible partnership with the district to look into a new greenhouse for SCHS. The Board directed the board building/finance committee to continue discussion with the FFA alumni and brief them on any new progress and developments being made.
The Board heard a presentation from King Financial on the sale of bonds to be another option to fund the SCMS project and also many roof repairs across the district. These bonds would be paid with 1% sales tax money already coming into the district. No property tax money would be raised to pay any new bonds.
The Board set the graduation dates for South Central Middle School to be May 9th @ 6 p.m., and South Central High School to be May 12th @ 7 p.m.
The Board approved renewing the Working Cash Surety Bond with Nixon Insurance Company.
The Board approved a field trip for FBLA to Springfield for April 14th and 15th.
The Board approved Spencer Johannes to be a volunteer coach for SCHS Spring baseball.
The Board approved the superintendent's recommendation for a position change from being a Special Ed High School teacher to a district Music/Choir teacher for Shane Lother effective for the 2023-2024 school year.
