South Central Superintendent Kerry Herdes says the budget process was decent for a change thanks to the equitable funding formula the state recently adopted. Herdes prepared the tentative budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year and presented it to the school board at this week’s meeting. The budget will be finalized and up for approval at the September board meeting. Herdes said that the extra money the District will receive from the equitable funding bill will total $79,000.
The board also heard they would be receiving their final Capital Development Bond payment from the state in the amount of $879,000.
In personnel action, the board hired Nicole Doehring as a certified staff member to work as a Special Ed teacher at the middle school. They hired Amy Wilkins to be a Title Aide at the Elementary School. Stephanie Kelsheimer was hired to be a Transportation Secretary for the SC Bus Garage. The board accepted a letter of resignation from Kim Lane as support staff member and approved a leave of absence for Nancy Krutsinger.
